大象在印度、泰国称为“象神”，大象的鼻子可吸水象征可把外面的财吸进来，故摆放在公司门口或家里都有招财作用，其中背驮金蟾的大象谓之“向上发财”。

因为万象更新的“象”，谐音“祥”、和“相”，古人云：“太平有象”，寓意“吉祥如意”，居家者屋内奉置此吉祥物，可使家庭充满祥和之气；企业办公室供奉此物人和财旺，势如泰山；公务人员供奉大象可减轻压力，增持业绩，利于晋升，尤其是背上坐着猴子的大象，称为挂象封侯，旺事业及官运效果。
